Steven Boom Drops Uplifting Dance Anthem ‘End of the High’

Steven Boom has released ‘End of the High’, this latest single that launches his current project of melodic, uplifting tracks built to connect past the dancefloor. Raised in the Netherlands during an influential period for European dance music, he started DJ’ing at a young age and moved from school events into clubs, larger parties and summer seasons abroad. Vocals and songwriting come from Philip Strand, the Swedish dance and electronic artist with over 500 million Spotify streams and prior releases alongside Galantis, JVKE, Cheat Codes, Armin van Buuren, Icona Pop, Nicky Romero and Lucas & Steve, and from Amanda Collis, the Dutch singer and songwriter with over 150 million streams and credits including Fedde Le Grand, Cat Dealers, Brennan Heart, Blasterjaxx and Klaas.

‘End of the High’ is an upbeat dance track that doubles as a masterclass in minimalist electronic sound production. With a crisp summer hue weaved through the track, it also serves absolute harmonic stability. By ensuring the melody never fights the underlying chords, he creates an immediate sense of familiarity. It is a sonic trick designed for mass, instantaneous memorization. Vocally Philip Strand and Dutch singer-songwriter Amanda Collis help evoke that sense of familiarity through their harmonic interplay.  Co-produced with Maarten Vorwerk, the song centers on meeting someone who changes your life and then finding out whether that feeling holds once summer ends and everyday life begins. The two voices let the account unfold from both sides, treating falling in love as a conversation between two people.

Steven Boom shared: “‘End of the High’ is about that moment when you meet someone and everything suddenly feels different. You’re caught up in this incredible summer high, but eventually real life starts again and you have to find out if what you felt was actually real. Having Philip and Amanda tell the story from both sides made the song come alive in a way I couldn’t have done alone. It felt like the right record to start this project with, because it captures what I want my music to be: emotional, uplifting and made in collaboration.“
