Austrian producer Tobias Bergson unveiled his Promise EP on 9 October 2026 via PLAYY. Records, adding to a catalogue that has amassed over 180 million streams and earned direct praise from Don Diablo, Lost Frequencies and Steve Aoki. Previous releases have appeared on Armada and Universal Music Austria, while his performances include a slot at Austria’s Spring Festival and multiple tracks featured on Spotify editorial playlists. Bergson’s work has drawn coverage from DJ Mag, 1001 Tracklists, Mixmag Germany, Mixmag Netherlands, YourEDM, Magnetic Magazine, House Music With Love and Electronic Groove, alongside airplay on CBC Music’s Afterdark, KCRW’s Metropolis and RTÉ 2FM. Beginning his production journey at 17 with software rather than traditional instruments, Bergson crafts records that remain emotive and melancholic, blending dancefloor momentum with introspective detail. His intricate, subtly haunted melodies carry a familiar weight, drawing influence from Deadmau5, Ben Böhmer, Rampa and Chris Malinchak. The productions move fluidly between deep house, techno, progressive, lounge and house, never settling into a single genre.
The title track ‘Promise‘ opens with a sustained, contemplative motif, underpinned by an undulating synth pulse and a vocal wash that hovers just out of reach. This introduction gives way to an Afro-House rhythm section, as layers of synthesis gradually build and propel the track forward. The production remains measured and deliberate, striking a balance that will resonate with followers of YOTTO, Disclosure and Keinemusik. Elsewhere on the EP, bass-driven passages ensure the melodic core remains anchored within a live set.
Tobias Bergson shared: “The EP came together over the course of last year and into this year. I’d been experimenting with melodic techno since last year, exploring how I could bring that sound into my own style, and that experimentation naturally evolved into the EP. I also wanted to create something that would translate well into my live sets, at least in parts. That’s why there are a few bass-heavy tracks alongside the more melodic moments. I wanted to keep that energy and weight while still maintaining a strong melodic element throughout the EP.”
