German DJ Oliver Schories released a remix of Jasper Sommer’s track ‘Wouldn’t You Like To Know’, which premiered on Electronic Groove. With over 140 million Spotify streams, Schories rose to fame with his 2012 debut Herzensangelegenheit. He’s known for albums like Exit (2013) and Blitzbahn (2018) and he founded the label SOSO. During the pandemic, he released Paradigm (2020) and collaborated with Jan Blomqvist on ‘Packard’.
‘Wouldn’t You Like To Know’ is a quintessential Jasper Sommer track, marked by its moody darkness. Melancholic ambient synths set the stage for Jasper’s smoky, languid vocals, while a muffled beat weaves through glittery pads, creating an introspective and ambivalent atmosphere. Oliver Schories’ remix takes the track in a different direction, transforming it into deep/melodic house with a bouncy four-on-the-floor rhythm, infectious shakers, lush synth sweeps, and uplifting chords. Reminiscent of Ben Böhmer, Bonobo, and Parra for Cuva, the remix maintains Jasper’s dark ambivalence while turning its brooding nature into an uplifting anthem for overcoming dark times.
Oliver Schories said: “I was originally asked to remix Jasper’s track ‘Memento’ and really liked the idea but then I listened through his entire album and came across ‘Wouldn’t You Like To Know’. I was instantly hooked by the bass and thought: This is the one!“.
