Frythm x Lake Hills release another trippy track, ‘Over You’

The powerhouse pair Frythm x Lake Hills unveiled a second single, ‘Over You’, on January 19th, 2024. The single is a teaser of their upcoming EP, Across The Room, scheduled for release on the 2nd of February via Alpha Pup Records.  Frythm and Lake Hills were responsible for the EP production and mixing, but it was mastered by Grammy Award-winning engineer Daddy Kev (Ross From Friends, Flying Lotus, Shigeto). Both artists have been carving places for themselves in the industry, with Frythm’s beats having received previous support from the likes of BBC Radio 6’s Tom Ravenscroft, Complex UK, KEXP, and more, while Lake Hills recently showcasing his experimental artistry at iii Points Miami, as well as collaborating with Ivy Lab on the IFG Tour.

‘Over You’ showcases the skills of both producers. This experimental house/IDM track is awash with dreamy pads, glitchy, pitched-up vocal samples driven by a minimal breakbeat. For fans of irreverent beat makers such as Nosaj Thing, Flying Lotus, and Flume, ‘Over You’ is a nostalgic sonic journey, an introspective departure from its higher-BPM, euphoric predecessor, ‘Safer With You’.

Frythm divulged: ‘Over You’ emerged spontaneously during a session at Pirate Studios. Lake Hills and I were finalizing the EP. I was cooking up beats while waiting for Jake (Lake Hills). I had this idea from the prior night & I layered vocals with Seyaa, creating a surprise for Jake who walked in mid-production, and later wove his magic to bring the track to life from the stems I handed him after the session.”
