Black Motion Give Lisa Ramey’s ‘Better Than That’ a Smooth Afro-House Rework

Black Motion, the South African group made up of Smol, Murdah Bongz, and Problem Child Ten83, released their official remix of Lisa Ramey’s ‘Better Than That’ this past Friday, December 5th, 2025, through Lisa Ramey Music. Since 2010, they have earned platinum and gold albums (Ya Badimo, Fortune Teller), won several SAMA awards, released tracks on top labels like Defected Records, played a popular Tiny Desk (Home) concert, and received four SAMA31 nominations for their 2024 album, The Cradle of Art. Not many artists bring African rhythms to global dance floors with such skill.

Lisa Ramey made an impression on The Voice, toured the U.S. this year with Zayn Malik’s all-female band, and landed on Good Morning America’s Top 50 albums with her 2020 release, Surrender. Her Foretaste EP from last year featured the original ‘Better Than That’, a soulful track that is already nearing 700,000 streams.

Black Motion keep the energy warm and steady with deep four-on-the-floor beats, lively tribal percussion, gentle touches from Spice Drums, and lots of room for Lisa’s vocal hooks to shine and blend with the rhythm. It’s rare to find a remix that respects the original while being so ready for the dance floor.

Black Motion shared: “When the challenge came to remix Lisa Ramey’s ‘Better Than That’, we were all in. We wanted to bring our own touch and feel to the song, giving her audience a taste of the South African vibe. With Spice Drums adding his signature feel, we hope people feel the same energy and joy we felt while creating it.”
